Our commitment to the environment
Here at University of Glamorgan we take our commitment to the environment very seriously and are always looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint. We are the first university in the UK to introduce, in partnership with CableCom Networking, an innovative new idea that sees the institution equipping students with the tools to monitor their own energy consumption and providing energy-saving incentives to support and encourage students with their own energy cutting measures. Last year we ran two competitions and the three houses with the least consumption were awarded catering vouchers as prizes. Alongside this initiative we have:
- Installed PIR detectors in all communal areas throughout halls
- Installation of new condensing boilers throughout Glamorgan Court reducing from 24kw to 11kw
- Reduction in tank cisterns size from 12 litre to 6 litre
- Replacement of light fittings to low energy units
